Zenith review

So when I picked this book up because I followed one of the authors on YouTube Sasha Alsberg and she talked about the book she wrote with Lindsay Cummings and so in August I finally picked up Zenith.

It wouldn’t be until November when I will pick it up to read. I saw a lot of people who read the book and didn’t like it. But I decided to give it a shot and read it because it’s my point of view on what I thought of it.

My honest opinion I loved it. The whole story was interesting and I couldn’t really put the book down which is hard because I had other things I had to do. I really loved the characters and it made it so relatable and it felt like I knew them personally.

Was it hard with the different POVs no because they let you know whose POV we were in at each beginning of the chapter. I loved how they were space pirates in outer space I never read something like this before.

The writing of this book was awesome and I applaud both Sasha and Lindsay for this story.

There was also a love aspect to it which I loved and hope that we get to see more in the second book. It wasn’t all about the love relationship it had the fighting and drama which I loved.

All together I loved this book and the writing style and seeing how all of these characters are connected and how they are their own family and everything.

So I gave Zenith five stars on good reads and it’s making me even more excited for the next book in the series.

I totally recommend this book to my friends and tell them to read this great book.

Until next time.

City of Glass Review

So i’m finally read the third book of the mortal instrument series city of glass and i couldn’t believe how well written this book is. We see where the book takes place right after City of Ashes and the drama between Clary and Jace are still there. Also Simon is well trying to figure out why he could survive the daylight while being a Vampire.

Since i found this series i couldn’t be happier on how much i am loving the books and seeing how they have taken the books and created it into the television show and its making me excited to get to the rest of the series.

This book takes place in the shadow hunter capital i don’t remember the name and if i try to type it out it will be wrong again and i wouldn’t do that to you and i don’t want to get hate from the other fans because i didn’t say the name correctly.

So we see in the book that Clary wants to find a person who is more than willing to help her mother out and even though Jace didn’t want her to come she did anyway and Luke followed her because he is the father figure to her than her own father Valentine.

While there we see that Valentine is trying to take over their world while finding the Mortal Instruments.

We also find out a lot about Clary and Jace that for anyone who ships them would be very happy again i am not a person who spoils. This books was really good and i was able to read it in one day and i’m excited to read the last three books in the series i have been finding that i love Cassandra Clare writing and i can’t wait to read the other books in her series.

For Good Reads i gave this wonderful book five stars.

Until Next time.

Unravel Me Review

Oh God this book destroyed my soul and my heart.

So i picked up Shatter me on a whim because i didn’t know what to expect for a series that is so well written to destroy me. So i gave myself some time before i started the second book and well i was happy about the time i took to recover but ugh this book was soo good it took me about three full days to read.

The story kept going from where the first book left off and i have to say that i love this book and series.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series but i couldn’t belive how much character development went on in this book and i also couldn’t believe how i fell in love with these characters and hoping some would survive and others would well disappear but at the same time this book tore me apart.

All together for good reads i gave it five star and can’t wait to read more of the shatter me series.

until next time.

Reading Challenge Update

So in April way before i started this blog i started using the App and website Goodreads.com and well it helped me keep track of the books i’ve read and what ratings i give it kind of the same thing i tell you when i do a review on book that i’ve read.

One of the things goodreads allowed me to do was do a reading challenge for 2018 and of course i was late because it was able to i set a challenge to read 50 books and well i thought i would give you an update since well it’s November and 2018 is almost up.

So far as of right now i’ve read 46 books and so i have four more books to  read and then  i would reach my goal of  50 books and i have to say reading fifty books in a year or only a couple of months means a lot because for a while i was in a reading slump and i couldn’t read to save my life but here is the thing i found my love for reading again and i’m reading series of books that i’ve heard of but i haven’t actually read before and now i am .

Starting this blog helps gives reviews of books that i have read and because of the reading challenge i decided to create a blog because i’m not a good speaker and i don’t like the way i look on camerea which is why i’m not doing booktube. So my reading challenge so far i’ve read 46 books but i’ll update you if i finish the book i’m currently reading.

I am also happy to say that i finished my reading challenge of 50 books now onto the next challenge

until next time.

The Last of August Review

So the Last of August is book two in the Charlotte Holmes series and i have to say that this book was as good as the first book. This book i took my time reading because i read the first book in one day and i actually wanted to savor the series because i just loved the relationship between Jamie and Charlotte.

So this book takes place actually in England during Christmas Vacation and well Charlotte and James are not really on talking situation because of something which happened in the first book and well Jamie has no idea how he should feel about Charlotte and at the same time he is meeting her parents and uncle for the first time he has already met Milo her older brother.

Charlotte finds that her uncle is well missing and she wants to look for him because he never leaves with out leaving her something and well her mother is sick and her parents sent her to be with her brother in Germany and at the same time trying to find her uncle.

While in Germany Charlotte and Jamie find out that August Moriority is alive and he might be working with his family who wants well Charlotte dead because of how she ruined their family that she happens to be a Holmes and the whole family problems between the two.

Something big happens at the end of the book which i won’t spoil but let me say that this book was so good that it kept me on the tip of my toes when i read this book and it’s making me want to read the third book in the series and luckily enough there is going to be a fourth book. I never really read the Sherlock Holmes Mysterys before but i have watched the shows and movies.

Well that’s my review on the Last of August.

Until Next Time.

24 Hour readathon Update

Well i am proud of myself i actually stayed up for the full 24 hours and well i took an hour nap in between reading. I worked earlier that day so i was exhausted so  i took a nap.

So for the read-a-thon i set a goal up for myself to read five books and i was able to read 4 out of five books that were on my TBR. I also stayed up which is a nice feature so for the most part when i got home from work and actually sat down to read i did it on the couch in my living room until about 9:50. After that i made another run to CVS to get more snacks and red bulls because i wasn’t really able to make coffee. So i did that then i went upstairs to my bedroom to read for the rest of the night because if i kept in the living room then i would keep my dad awake and i did not want that to happen.

So i finished City of Glass by Cassandra Clare and then decided to re-read the jack the ripper series over again and those are the four books i read i made sure i had caffeine and water and snacks. I made myself a cypress salad and i loved it.

I’m looking forward to the next readathon.

Until Next Time,

Katie

TBR for 24 hour read-a-thon

So every season a website hosts a 24 hour readathon I’ve done it twice now. One last april and the surprise reverse read a thon in July.

Both times I’ve actually fell asleep both times because i had to work and the second time i actually stayed awake for a long time. So what is a tar it is short for a to be read and it’s a pile of books that you want to read and i haven’t really set a TBR for this read-a-thon until now. So what is my TBR for the 24 hour Read-A-Thon

  1. City of Glass Cassandra Clare I have started reading the Mortal Instrument series and yes i know that i am late to the party and haven’t read it before but i started watching the tv show on freeform and a lot of book tubers have recommend this series so i thought i would finally give it a shot. So i am now on to reading book 3 so this is the first book i would like to read for the read-a-thon.
  2.  Stalking Jack the ripper Kerri Maniscalo- So I’ve love the series and the author and well this series was awesome and it’s great for October because its spooky and well has a great mystery so it would be a great re-read.
  3. Hunting Prince Dracula Kerri Maniscalco- Second Book in the series and re-reading the series again for october and so i am obsessed with Vampires so this book has Dracula in it so re-reading the series again.
  4. Escaping Houdini Kerri Maniscalco- Third book in the series and loved to re-read it.
  5. Unravel me a second book in the series

So that is my TBR for the 24 hour Read-A-Thon and yes it’s five books and my goal is three books so if i do three out of five I’ll be happy. So i have set up my tar and so the next aspect of the readathon is water, snacks and coffee and updating all of your friends about how far along you are during the read-a-thon. So i set a goal for myself besides reading five books but this time i want to be able to stay wake for all 24 hours. Well i’ll let you know how the read-a-thon went next time.

Crazy Rich Asians Review

Okay so the latest book i read was Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Of course they had just recently made a movie based off the book. I wanted to read the book before i saw the movie but unfortunately that wasn’t able to happen and so i saw the movie first and i read the book.

I am the person who tends to like the books more than some of the movies so this was hard because i went into the movie knowing nothing of what it was about i new that it was a love story and everything. I loved the movie and i thought it was done well which is a first but i was on hold for the book from the library and when i got it i finally read the book and i noticed the differences between book and movie like most people do.  In all honesty when i finished the book i liked it a little more than the movie.

The book had all different point of views that we really didn’t see in the movie and we learned a lot about Rachel’s background that we might not have learned in the movie. Also in the book we learned more about Nick and his relationship with his family. It’s really a tough decision for me but at the same time i will always choose the book being better than the movie.

This has nothing against the movie which i really enjoyed and thought the director did a great job with the movie and i would love to see it again but me being the book lover that i am will choose the book. By saying this would i recommend someone reading the book yes and i would say read the whole trilogy which i plan to do. I gave Crazy Rich Asians Five stars on Good Reads and i already let my friend a copy of the book so they could read this book.

Until Next Time.

Love and Luck Review

So the book I’ve just recently finished is Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch which is the sequel to the book Love and Gelato. It’s a Young Adult Novel and it happens to contemporary which i love to read occasionally but not all the time.

This story is about Addie who happens to be in Ireland for her aunts wedding and lately she has been fighting with her brother Ian who she was close to but then the event which we hear about throughout the book caused them to be not as close. Addie is dealing with heart-break when she finds this travel guide-book at the reception of her aunts book which will take you on a tour of Ireland and it comes with homework to help you deal with the heartbreak.

So Addie and her brother Ian were suppose to head to Italy to meet up with Addie’s best friend Lina. Well it doesn’t turn out like that and Addie learns a secret that Ian hasn’t told anyone not even her that he is staying in Ireland to follow his favorite band for their final concert at a music festival in Ireland and he will be traveling by car with his friend Rowan.

Both Rowan and Addie bond over the heartbreak guide-book that Addie took from the library at her aunt’s reception. Turns out Rowan has his own heartbreak that he has to over come and while on this trip will help. Through this journey both Addie and Ian learn things about each other that they might not have known before and this journey will bring back to the way it was before.

Okay that’s what i think of this book it made me feel like i was in the car with them in Ireland when the truth is i haven’t visited Ireland before but if i closed my eyes at any part of this book it made me feel like i was in the back of the car with Addie, Ian and Rowan.  Again i don’t always read contemporary but reading love and luck made me feel love and adventure which happens when i read this type of books. It gives me a break from the usual Sci-fi and fantasy books that i read.

For good reads i gave Love and Luck five stars and i would recommend this book to people i know and even strangers.

Until Next time.

Starting a bullet Journal

So i use to write down the title and author of the book that i had just finished and then i finally decided to do something different that i didn’t do before hand. A BULLET JOURNAL which is something which i never done and i was nervous because what if i am doing this wrong and i did research and i constantly looked on youtube and Instagram to see what other people did for their bullet journals and so i punched the journal in the mouth and i purchesed a bullet journal.

In all honesty i believe this was a great decision for me because the way i set my journal up i have the first couple pages are my reading challenge boxes which i color in when i am done with the book which is up to challenge number 5 then i wrote down the pages that are in the book and i would check them off.

Then i have to star rating which i use also that connects with the rating i give it on my good reads and then i separate the books by month i don’t do it by day because thats not who i am and i don’t always read a book in a day so i write down books i read for a single month and so far for my reading journal i am up until 2020.  Yes i know that’s crazy but at the same time it gives me a piece of mind that i have it set up.

Later on in my book journal i actually have pages for read-a-thons because i have started to do them and one will be coming up in October which i am really excited about and i will have a full blog planned around it which i will talk about the books i planned to read and how many books i’m planning to read in a span of 24 hours.

My bullet journal comes with me everywhere i always make sure that it’s in whatever bag i am using to carry around my stuff because you never know when you’ll finish a book or when you want to write a book for a readathon or jolt down ideas for a blog that you want to create which i did.

I usually put my bullet journal with my book in a book beau book sleave witch will keep my book safe and sound from the outside world or even from the stuff in my bags. I’ve noticed i loved using my bulletjournal to keep track with the reading i do and how many pages i’ve read in a month and as of right now July 2018 is the winner with the most pages so far.  Would i reccomend a bullet journal yes because it works i’ve seen people who use a bullet journal and loved it for me i’ve always had a hard time keeping track with books that i have read before and then when i go to read a book i’m like have i read this already.

So this is my thoughts about Bullet Journals and why i actually use my bullet journal and why it makes me feel comfortable to keep track of my reading.

So Next’s weeks blog we will have my review on a book that i just read and my thoughts on it.

Until Next Time,

Katie
